I was born in the Bay Area and was raised in both Southern and Northern California. I knew from the time I was little that I wanted to be a nurse. I started at Yuba Community College while I was still in high school and was able to graduate early with my Associates in Science. I transferred to Chico State University's Bachelor of Nursing program and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2002. I was hired as a brand new RN at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital Emergency Department. I loved working in the emergency setting and soon became a board-certified Emergency Nurse and Trauma Nurse certified. I also worked part-time in the county jail and at Sutter Roseville Trauma Center.
When our first child was born in 2006, I was able to put my career on hold for a bit and stay home full-time. My husband is an emergency room physician and having one parent with a crazy schedule was hard enough! Over the next few years we had two more babies (and a lot less sleep!) and moved to a quiet cul-de-sac in Lincoln. When my oldest daughter was entering second grade and my middle daughter was entering kindergarten, we found Harvest Ridge Placer Academy as they were just opening their doors. We now have all 3 of our children at HRPA and we love this school community.
I was so excited to be offered the position of School Nurse for both Harvest Ridge Schools and Newcastle Elementary School District. I feel so fortunate to have the best co-workers and to serve such wonderful students!
I recently started Graduate School at Sacramento State and will receive my Masters in Nursing in 2018. In my free time, I love visiting parks and museums with my kids, going on a date with my husband, reading historical fiction novels by the pool, watching the San Francisco Giants play baseball, and enjoying a good Netflix marathon.
