Message from the executive Director
Welcome to Placer Academy Charter!
As a California public charter, Placer Academy provides a variety of unique and personalized services to its students within a framework of high academic standards through a small and supportive school environment. We offer core instruction through experiential learning, technology and virtual instruction, combined with an innovative enrichment program. We are open to all families/students committed to our mission/educational vision, without tuition or academic entrance requirements and honoring the uniqueness of each individual, and seek students from diverse backgrounds in order to build a strong, inclusive community and prepare all students for lives in a multicultural society.
Our staff members are highly skilled, lifelong learners and are supported in their endeavors to refine their craft. A team leadership approach encourages strong professional ethics, monitors progress toward achieving our goals and ensures that we are effectively utilizing available financial and human resources to maximize student performance.
At Placer Academy Charter, we aim for an atmosphere of cooperation and engagement, with respect for individual differences and community values. Our charge is to develop and nurture a culture where words and actions make it evident that we care about each other, and the community. We believe that unification is a source of strength and we realize goals cannot be achieved in isolation. Strong mentoring programs further develop a sense of community, encouraging all members of the school to work together to promote the success of each learner.
As a parent cooperative school, parents are an integral part of the Placer Academy Charter program. As their children’s first and most important teacher, parents are involved and supported as participants in home learning activities, assigned homework, and curriculum related activities.
Parents are encouraged to participate in the classrooms after proper clearance to assist teachers and students in the learning process. School staff recruit and train parents to assist teachers and students in the classroom, on educational field trips, and in a variety of non-teaching school enrichment activities. Parents are invited to assume leadership in school governance by serving on the Board of Directors, which works to formulate major educational and operational policies, approve all personnel contracts, prepare the school’s annual budget, and coordinate with the district on the school’s fiscal affairs.
We are excited to introduce you to our vibrant school.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Godtland
