Kathy Fletcher, Language Arts/Social Studies
Hi, my name is Kathy Fletcher and I grew up in Mt. Shasta, a small town in Northern California. My passion for teaching began when I realized my oldest son was autistic. This inspired me to return to school and obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies at California State University Sacramento. I continued my education at the University of San Francisco where I earned my teaching credential.
I reside in Roseville with my husband. three children and two high maintenance dogs. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading, crocheting, taking long walks and spending time with family.
I love to teach fifth grade! In my classroom I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. A sense of community is an important part of my classroom. I also value collaboration between my classroom and home. I believe that great things can happen when we work together.
Jessica Alva, Math/Science
I was born and raised right here in Rocklin and am so excited to be able to teach in my home town! I moved to Portland, OR and graduated from Portland State University. It was then I began working in schools and fell in love with teaching. I followed my passion and received my graduate degree and teaching credential from Lewis and Clark College. After a short time teaching in Oregon, I moved back to California to be closer to family and friends. In the last six years, I have had the privilege of teaching various grade levels in Loomis and Auburn school districts. I am excited to start this year as a fifth and sixth grade teacher at Placer Academy. In my classroom, I promote an exciting and engaging atmosphere where all students feel safe to learn and grow. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with family, being outdoors, reading, working out and playing with my two dogs, Remington and Buffy. I am excited to start this year with you!
