FALL FESTIVAL IS COMING Y'ALL!
Just a few more days until Fall Festival! Here are some important updates:
In the past we have handed out wrist bands, WE WILL NOT BE HAVING WRISTBANDS THIS YEAR. Just pay the family entrance fee and come enjoy the fun!
Also, if you haven't turned in your money yet, there is still time! PLUS you can always pay at the door on the night of the event.
Lastly, WE STILL NEED PLENTY OF CANDY AND VOLUNTEERS! An event like this doesn't happen without your support, so thank you for helping! Remember that we welcome the help of middle and high school students. Sign up HERE.
See you Friday, October 25th 4-6pm!
It's that time again - cold and flu season has arrived! Please keep the following in mind, especially for the next few months:
Want to find out all the cool things that are happening in PE on the primary campus? Check out the informative weekly newsletter. Thank you to all that donated to my Go Fund Me project! It was fully funded and we will be getting new speakers for PE.
Penny Wars are in full force! Remember amounts will fluctuate wildly each week depending on donations. The top three classes this week are:
Ms. Stokes - 5,600
Mrs. Wilson - 5,526
Mrs. McClain - 4,485
If your student was absent or you didn't like the pictures, PAC will have a retake day on November 21st at both campuses.

Article of the Week
WHY CONTENT KNOWLEDGE IS CRUCIAL TO EFFECTIVE CRITICAL THINKING:
Critical thinking is all the rage in education. Schools brag that they teach it on their websites and in open houses to impress parents. Some argue that critical thinking should be the primary purpose of education and one of the most important skills to have in the 21st century, with advanced machines and algorithms replacing manual and repetitive labor.
But a fascinating review of the scientific research on how to teach critical thinking concludes that teaching generic critical thinking skills, such as logical reasoning, might be a big waste of time. Critical thinking exercises and games haven’t produced long-lasting improvements for students. And the research literature shows that it’s very difficult for students to apply critical thinking skills learned in one subject to another, even between different fields of science.

BOOK CLUB ELECTIVE:
Our book club elective celebrated the end of our book set in ancient China with some mouth watering Chinese food! Now on to our new book set in India!
Several students are working on a Genius Hour project in the Learning Center.
Lunch Bunch is up and running at the Learning Center. It's definitely a student favorite!
Mrs. Stokes always wears her crown during guided reading time. This signals to the class that she is working with a group.
If you have a kindergarten or first grade student, you may have heard the exciting news - the Tooth Fairy came to visit! Thank you to Rocklin Pediatric Dentistry (our neighbors!) for providing a fun oral health presentation along with dental kits for our students. Students in 2nd-5th grade will have an oral health presentation and receive complimentary dental kits next week.
NWEA ENCOURAGEMENT FROM THE LC:
Students received some notes of encouragement from the Learning Center during their NWEA Assessments.
UPPER ACADEMY PE:
Nice fall day for a mile run!
